Walking Around Scared

CUSTOM JAVASCRIPT / HTML
I am amazed at how so many are walking around scared. Scared of a virus, afraid of being the authority, and fearful of taking the steps towards what will guarantee them the success they desire. Living in fear, lacking courage will leave you behind in a market that is thriving. When this economy goes down in history as one of the most prosperous, will you persevere and outlast the competition? Or does your story end here?
The Walk of Fear
  • The Coronavirus scare, we can't get away from it. It's on the news and in your emails. Every conversation seems to lead to the topic of the Coronavirus. When I arrived in Denver, I went to PF Changs to have dinner. It was Friday night, prime time, and the restaurant was empty. Certain restaurants are always packed, and I was surprised when I walked in. I was seated; I ordered my food and asked the server what was going on. She said she thought it was the Coronavirus.
  • It baffles me. Although I see it all around me, I think it is too easy to start blaming other things for why something isn't working. It is all around me, and in Volleyball, they are also taking precautions. Instead of each team giving a high five before the game, they are now waving at each other from across the net. I thought to myself is this really necessary? Within seconds I see them giving each other high fives, touching their eyes, their mouths, and hitting the same ball; we tend to arrive at solutions without realizing there can be a more simple solution.
  • I began to think about how fear paralyzes all of us. We are walking around, scared, apprehensive, and we hold back. It reminds me that when the market began to tank in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Everyone was scared, especially in our industry. There were 1,000’s of agents returning to normal jobs because, in their minds, no one was buying or selling. It was in the news and every conversation; the brokers and industry, in general, were saying the same.
  • When you look on record, there were still 1,000’s of sales taking place. Because the vast majority wasn't making the money they were used to, there was a hysteria that set in. I found when I stopped listening to the noise, not only did I find a solution, but I excelled massively. I took advantage of others holding back. When we think about holding back, others are taking advantage of you holding back. Some of you on this call are making more money than you thought possible, but maybe there is a piece within us that lets us know that we are scared of something.
  • Maybe it's outside of the Coronavirus, and it's the market. Perhaps we are out there as much as we should be and aren't pulling the trigger on marketing because we fear how it will be received; we hold back. There are other individuals who don't hold back and don't think twice; they do it.
Fearing Technology
  • The tools that are available to you right now, with social media marketing, you have to do a really good job to screw it up. If you aren't making the type of money you want, with the best economy possible. Where the demand is through the roof and money is readily available, if you are struggling or holding back, you will regret it. This economy is for the history books. The economy you are living in and have every possibility to zoom to the top will go down in the history books.
  • You have to commit to becoming that story of excelling at this time, not a story of how you held back. You were so afraid of today's technology that you couldn't follow through with tomorrow's. That is what is happening. If you don't put yourself out there consistently, then you are mistaken. Those that aren't afraid, and are putting themselves out there authentically, are reaping the benefits today. Those are the individuals who will continue to reap the benefits as technology progresses, and with that, your level of communication needs to improve.
  • I am that guy, as the market tanked, I was riding high, and I continued to do that. It was because I continued to innovate because I wasn't scared or apprehensive about what the masses were saying. If you are telling yourself a story that you can't market or put yourself out there because of the reactions of others, consider that you are holding yourself back. You will regret it when you hit the ceiling. I want you to break through and think about what it would feel like and what the results would be if you are consistent with who you are—showcasing yourself as the authority daily, regardless of who else is doing it.
  • I don't care who is doing it right now. I will outlast them, regardless of how many other agents or brokers are out there. That is my philosophy. Everyone gets a wild hair up there butts and starts marketing daily until they get triggered, or someone makes a comment or frowns upon their conversations. Then they stop. I keep going because my success is not reliant on others opinions. Yours shouldn't, either. You need to become the authority today within this economy, and it will set a platform for you when things begin to shift if you try to do what you should be doing today, later on; good luck to you. Those that continue to do it right now will be 100 steps ahead of you.
  • This is the proclamation and where you say you won't hold back. This is where you build your skillset and your confidence by doing what is required daily. The solution is being able to continue to move forward when your mind is telling you to hold back. This is a conditioning process for all of us. Everyone else may be doing it, but they aren't consistent. They will quit, and your job isn't to beat the competition but to outlast it. Outlasting it means that you will show up daily and not base it on how you feel. It must be based on what is required.
  • The vast majority of people will listen to what is on the news. Many agents are listening to what others say about their videos, what they are wearing, and what they said. Outlast them, the naysayers, by doing what is required.
Nothing New
  • It's amazing how most things become lessons. I am going through the process of the 12-week targets, and it is fueling me. Please buy into it, and it will take your awareness to another level. It makes your ability to see opportunities to another level. It gives you confidence for when the big opportunities become available; you will take the necessary action. It feels incredible.
  • There is a quote in the book that says, “ How does this quote apply to you?” There was one that I filled in yesterday, and the quote was this,” You've done it, you've demonstrated it, so what will happen if you want it more consistently?”
  • This is the revelation that I got. Our revelations will all be different because our experiences are different. The point to this is for you to put yourself in a state of presence and ask yourself what it means to you at that moment. This is what I got, “I have been through it all and persevered. No emotion or feeling is new. There is no reason to act like it is. The only new thing is the situation, not the emotions and not the feelings. Get after it.” Those are things that I received while sitting outside in downtown Colorado. You must realize that every emotion that you are feeling, every thought you are having isn't new. You have been through it before in a different situation.
  • This thought process of holding back, and not putting yourself out there as the authority, must stop. It will pay its dividends when you show up powerfully daily, in ways you could never imagine. Why not do it right now? The economy is at its best; consumer confidence is through the roof, interest rates are ultra-low; why not do it now and set that platform for when things do change. When they do change, you will be at the top, the peak, and not scrambling for a solution. It's a conditioning process that I need you to follow with me.
  • If you don't have a 12-week target book, I need you to come to a class where I break it down. For those that are following it, but not consistently, at least you are doing it. You will become more consistent as you begin to see the results and power that it provides.
Damn the Masses
  • I refuse to be scared and to hold back, regardless of what is going on. There were only a few of us that excelled during the period when the market fell. Others were conceding, but they heard that I had figured out a way. During that time, I made the most money ever in my life; others were struggling, and a story of how desperate things were.
  • It was bad for the masses, and you can't worry about the masses. There is always a small fraction that perseveres that take advantage of the situation and others' fears. Let's be that brokerage because right now, there is enough for everybody, but it won't be like that always. Those that build their skill sets, their mindset will excel.
  • You can own this market, and sometimes we all get into our heads. I get into my head at times. If I don't have the courage and confidence behind me, I will succumb to it. The Prime 3 and the things you have to document, feeling grateful for your journey and appreciation in others, helps to get you out of that rut faster.
  • You are going to tell your kids and your grandkids about how you dared to push through, not only riding the wave but continuing to ride it as things progressively slowed down. I don't care who else is doing selfie videos, posting picks of the day, don't worry about them. Stay in integrity with what you need to do, and you will outlast them. Their motivation is short-term because they are not inspired daily and don't appreciate their journey. They are only going through the motions someone told them to do. They see what we are doing as the same, but we are building skill sets and mindset.
  • Why are we quoting other people? Put your thoughts, your quotes out there. It takes courage and confidence to do something like that. Other people's comments aren't about you and what you said; it's about their insecurity and lack of courage to do the same. The easiest way to stop someone is to say something negative about what they are doing, they are successful often, and it fuels them. When you push through, you will outlast them, just as you are outlasting your competition.
  • It's not about what everybody else is doing; it is about you outlasting them. That needs to be your mantra because they are in it for the short-term. It has been an incredible day here in Colorado, and yesterday my daughter went 3-0; It was a great turn around from the day before. They were 1-2, and today we have the Championship rounds, and I am excited.
  • Listening to others takes us back to blaming our family and friends for not using us. We get pissed off at them, and then they feel bad, but who’s fault was it? You held back. When you hold back your clients, your family members are probably going to go to someone less committed than you. This is where the feeling of the fault should be. Don't let them work with someone less committed than you.
