Go Through The Motion or Become The Motion

I didn't have any passion or purpose at a point in my life. It wasn't until I got a new perspective of what life could be for me, that I realized that possibility was something I could create for myself. I had to discover and study that. I had to learn about and love myself. Take inspiration from the quotes and scriptures and analyze how they apply to your life, then express them in a way that correlates with your experiences so you can inspire others.
The Process of Self-Development
  • So many revelations are hitting me at once, and so many topics I want to cover, I think today's topic will be a powerful message for me, and I hope you can take the same message as it applies to you. Whenever we get together, we need to recalibrate and commit to what needs to be taken care of. There is still a lot of uncertainty, and a lot of us are getting caught up in the emotions of it. I am going to touch on that subject with today's topic: Going through the Motions or You can be the Motion.
  • I appreciate the participants in Carla’s 12-week challenge. You are all moving at a fast pace and challenging yourselves. We need to remind ourselves of what we are made of. Back in 2012 and 2013, I felt a little lost, and off of my game. My perspective was limited in what I thought I could create for my life. I thought I was hitting a wall, walking around with a big hole in my soul. I couldn't figure out why I was in a place of unhappiness and unfulfillment. I felt like I was going through the motions, not involved with my family or business to the level I was capable of.
  • I didn't have any passion or purpose behind it that led me to believe there was something innately wrong with me. It wasn't until I got a new perspective of what life could be for me, that I realized that possibility was something I could create for myself. I went on a venture to discover more about myself. I was trying to look at others to guide me, and when I realized the solutions were within me, I had to discover and study that. I had to learn about and love myself.
  • I went through a whole self-development process that continues to this day, six years later, discovering that there was more within me, and I didn't need any outside influence. My soul, story, and experiences; I needed to embrace that and learn. Self-development became a significant component of my life that I decided to study daily.
  • Seven years ago, I decided to learn about myself multiple times daily. I was going to analyze myself and my decisions. Studying people who had been on this path of self-development for years. As I was going through this, one author that resonated with me was Jim Rohn. Now I am going deeper and want to know what my soul is made of. But Jim Rohn, in the beginning, was right where I was at that time. I could understand and comprehend him from where I was at.
  • Now I am deeper and understand my soul, past the point that anyone can teach me. I am continually reflecting, improving, and I know what I am made of and capable of. The standard has become my own. Back when I started to read a quote from Jim Rohn, “ Don't wish it was easier, wish you were better. Don't wish for fewer problems, wish for more skills. Don't wish for less challenge, wish for more wisdom.”
  • That resonated with me because, at times, I would get frustrated by how things were not easy. I would get upset because the challenges before me were more than what I thought was capable of limiting myself. I realized this quote was everywhere, and he didn't necessarily make it up, he was a proponent of, but other people used it as well. John Kennedy said,” Do not pray for easy lives, pray for stronger men.” Bruce Lee said, “ Do not pray for an easy life; pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.”
Emotions are Evil Without Faith
  • Everything that needs to be said has been said. Every experience has been experienced. What changes the words of wisdom is your personal experience behind it. That is what caused me to appreciate who I am today. I want you to go down this path with me. We don't need to quote others to feel motivated. We need to analyze that quote more and process it as our own, and through your own experiences, describe it.
  • Carla has been studying the Bible every morning, and she comes up with these unbelievable revelations. She reads something and then can correlate it to an occurrence from her life. From that, she can speak upon it from her experiences, making the entire process more powerful.
  • There is a story of Joshua, and he was leading a group of individuals to the Promised Land. The children of Israel. He had to claim the land from its current inhabitants, fight and lead the battle. There were in the wilderness for forty years; talk about dedication. He had to motivate and inspire but had to provide spiritual leadership to the children of Israel. He was feeling overwhelmed as we all do; we begin to doubt our efforts when we don't see results immediately. Imagine the doubt Joshua had, to be out there for forty years, and continued to lead them because he was told he was supposed too.
  • The Lord offered him these words of encouragement,” Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged; for the Lord, your God will be with you wherever you go.” He is making it very clear when He says, “ Have I not commanded you? To be strong and courageous?” This is not an option; this is something we have to have resolve about. Whatever issue we are running into, we must understand it is not an option. It has been given to us. When we hear something like don't wish it was easier, wish you were better; we already have that. Within us, within our souls, minds, and emotions, we allow it to be based on faith instead of fear.
  • I love the way it reads because it isn't an option but a commandment. As I discussed this with Carla, she brought up another quote from Isaiah 41:10. This isn't about religion; there is inspiration all around us. If we can find it in Jim Roan, or Tony Robbins, we can find it within the Bible. There is an inspiration, and it has been said before. All of these people who have applauded Tony Robbins and Jim Rohn, Earl Nightingale; it's great because they can take the information, and through their experience, they can convey a different message.
  • Isaiah 41:10 says,” So do not fear for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you with my righteous right hand. All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced. Those who oppose you will be nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be nothing at all. For I am your Lord, your God who takes hold of your right hand and says do not fear for I will help you.”
  • “Those you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those that wage war against you will be nothing at all.” What that means to me is we have to have the courage to run a business. We have to have the courage to venture out on our own. Often we are thrown off of our game because of what others may say. We hold back because of what others think of us. When you finally do it, you will not find them, because of the resolve within you. It is our responsibility to stand firm in our faith, which is you and your emotion.
  • Carla said, “Emotions can control your moves and will be your downfall. Emotions are evil, with no faith.” We get caught up in our emotions, not knowing that they are evil when we don't have faith in our purpose and soul. She said, “ Praying and meditating is not to control your emotions; it controls your soul and the power within you because it has been commanded of you.”
The Monotonous Journey
  • We were given everything; you were given everything, and each time you decide to hold back, to allow your emotions to take over your actions; you give in, you disappoint and lose faith. When you go through this process daily, it is a sad life, but it describes exactly how I felt during that time, a big hole was in my soul. I was caught up in my emotions instead of knowing that it has already been given to me.
  • We have to reflect each time we get caught up in this space of what we have always wanted. Not creating the marriage, not being the parents you should be. Not having the business you should have, we can say we have faith and doing the right things. Our results will show. If you analyze that, you will honestly know that you are more caught up in your emotions than your faith.
  • At first, I couldn't process when Carla said that emotions were evil if faith was not the foundation. We all need to understand that the more faith you have in yourself, the faster solutions will come your way. This is a revelation that has been coming to me repeatedly. You can go through the motions, or you can be the motion; it's a tedious process of continually learning about yourself. I thought it was important because of the enormous impact it had on me. There is only one way for you to discover that; to learn about yourself daily.
  • It's in our 12-week Targets books also; you have your Purpose deposit. Learning more about yourself, all the solutions are within you. As you face challenges, you need to understand that being strong means trusting that you have the answer. Even when the second wave of Covid-19 comes through, we can get caught up in our emotions or understand that we have immunity. Trust that you have the immunity, or you will be caught up in your emotions.
  • As you face challenges in your business, trust that you have the solution, the courage, the strength, the knowledge, and the wisdom; otherwise, you will flutter, hesitate, and lose the opportunities before you. When I speak of knowledge and wisdom, it reminds me of a discussion I had with the Do the Work coaching group. We talked about Ephesians 5:15, “Be very careful then how you live, not as unwise but as wise. Making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil.”
  • It's a daily battle that is not only yours. You are not the only one facing doubt, fears, challenges; we all are. Some of us operate as wise and not as unwise. We have a decision on how we will operate. You have that decision, and they are discovered through your daily actions. Think about your actions this morning, and they will tell you if your decisions are wise or unwise. Compound that day after day and week after week month after month and year after year.
Mediocrity, Temptation and Complacency
  • Don't act like you don't know if you are on the right path, you know, because the days are evil. This means temptation, mediocrity, is all around us. Complacency is all around us, the days are evil, and it's up to you to make the wise decisions. That quote was the inspiration for my tattoo of the Arc Angel, and bodies are surrounding it. Fighting evil and evil in my eyes is mediocrity, temptation, and complacency; it is all around us. The food we eat, the things we consume, the things we watch, the things we listen to. Temptation, complacency, mediocrity; the days are evil, but we were given a plan that is in our DNA. We were blessed, gifted, and we have it within. When Jim Roan says, “ Don't wish it were easier, wish you were better, “ we don't have to wish; it is within us now. Just be better, be wise, make the right decisions. It doesn't require being strong, courageous, and finding solutions for your business and family. Whatever you are going through. I walk through the streets, confident because I have the faith that I have the immunity, the solution.
  • You don't have to come in on fire daily; it's all a culmination of the small decisions we make daily. My life is radically different from 2012 and 2013, when I hit the wall in December 2014. There were no grand gestures. It was a commitment to recommit. It was understanding that I have it all within me now; I don't need anything else, I need to discover myself merely. That hole in my chest I used to describe is indescribable now because it has been filled. I have lived a fulfilled life, and it is gone.
  • If you feel that right now, there is a solution, but it is a long road. It won't be the grand gestures, or redlining daily. It will be the small gestures, small, wise decisions over time, and it will start to decrease to a point where it starts pumping. You start loving life, and the adrenaline is in your veins, and love is in your heart. In many ways, those men were right; we don't need it easier. But we don't need to wish or pray that we were better, we need to be better because it has been commanded.
  • “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.” He didn't say act strong and look for courage. He said, “ I have commanded you.” Be strong, be courageous, and I need you to apply this to all aspects of your life. You need to feel powerful in every aspect of your life. How you feel about yourself, mentally, and physically. How your children and spouse see you and how you operate your business; those are your responsibilities. You will watch as that hole in your chest disappears because you are operating at the level you were created to.
  • I am not trying to impose anything on you, but I hope the Bible inspires you, and it doesn't have to be about religion. There are many great things we have been provided with, and we need only to be reminded of that. It's my job to bring that light to you so you can shine it on others. It is your duty and responsibility to operate powerfully and convey your message and share your thoughts. This isn't for only me but you as well. You will see a domino effect when you speak powerfully and how others will hold you to that standard; you will keep yourself to that standard. Whatever challenges are within you; your health, your marriage, your kids, or your business. It is your responsibility.
In Closing
  • Any of these quotes and scriptures can be inspirational, but until we apply to our lives and discover what it means to us, that is when the real power of the message takes hold. It isn't about being motivated; it's about living in integrity, living up to our ability and what we were created for. Emotions are evil unless they are based on a foundation of faith. Until then, we will be tossed around.
  • You need to come back on your own when your emotions are taking you somewhere else. Having that faith in your emotions will allow you to operate powerfully. It's hard out there right now; agents are coming at you hard; it's not you, we don't know what is going on outside of this transaction. With their families with their finances. Many people shut down over the past 12 weeks, and a lot of agents are barely getting back into the game. Financially they may not be where they want to be, and they are frustrated. It is clouded and coated in arrogance. It's not against you, and it's your job to lead. If you fall victim to their emotions, they now control your emotions.
  • When you show up when you don't want to; the power you gain in your mind and body will allow you to show up and kill the day. You will face challenges today; we all are. When we base our day in power, we are more likely to find solutions. The days you are broken by obstacles for you, we have to consider what we did to put ourselves in a place of power. Now that you have taken care of your body, soul, and mind, the challenges are not as heavy.
  • Jim Roan is a motivational speaker and father of self-development. He is quoted often, and it is surface level, in my opinion. It is a great stepping stone to you discovering more about yourself. You have to dig deep and discover the dysfunctional behavior we have as humans. If we don't first learn that we control our destiny and Jim Rohn does a great job of that and Tony Robbins. It is then your responsibility to go ten levels deeper by taking what inspired you and making it your own through experience. I hope that makes sense.
  • Read a quote and discover how it applies to you and then make it your own. There is your story as well, and it is as powerful as Jim Rohns, as Joshua from the Bible. It is your story, and those others were inspired by someone else as well, but they dared to take the inspiration, combine it with experience, and make it their own. That is what I am urging you to do as well. Inspiration is short term, apply it to your own life, and where you have overcome. Where you persevere, where you have feared.
  • We would all love to have the grand slam, the grand gesture, but to get there, we have to swing for the singles and fill the bases. Singles daily, and you will come back around and have your grand slams. That is not possible unless you swing for the singles. Base your emotion on faith, and the world will begin to turn in your favor. A lot of people are running, scared, and unsure. This is your time to strike, and the opportunities are there. Just as we did in 2012 when there was a lot of uncertainty and we decided to open A.Z. & Associates. Now in 2020, as people are saying to hold back and not make any big decisions, we will announce the most significant decisions for A.Z. & Associates that we have ever made. I have the trust and the faith that I will figure it out. There is a calling that I need to keep pushing forward; we all have it, but we must have the ears to hear. The only way to find that is to go and do the work, show up powerfully daily, and be aware.
  • A lot of Jim Rohn's quotes were based on the foundations of the Bible. Wherever you go, whatever inspires you, take the time and write down your Purpose deposit. What are you learning about yourself today? I hope today's Mindset Mastery served you and can operate more confidently, powerfully, and with certainty.
