Have You Forgotten?

I was reminded last week of the obstacles and challenges Carla and I have overcome to experience the exponential growth we are at this point in our life. Knowing that what you are doing to better yourself is being observed and implemented by others is incredible; watching it impact their lives and change their trajectory is priceless.
The Right Place at the Right Time
  • What an incredible week last week and day this morning. If you don't catch this podcast live, you are always welcome to listen to it on Badassagents.com as you are working out, going for or walking and doing the things that give you power. I highly encourage you to download this podcast.
  • I am feeling so much gratitude, even with the challenges I am facing. It has me thinking about how life can be so great and trusting the process can change the dynamic of how you operate. It can change every aspect of your life, including your health, marriage, and an overall sense of purpose. I get these reminders consistently.
  • Last Friday, I put out a few pictures on social media, and we were out with our architect. There is a big announcement coming soon, and Carla and I are looking at each other, realizing that it is happening. The next phase of A.Z. & Associates and the Do the Work coaching and consulting company is moving on to it. We are baffled by it, and everything we have thought about in the past is a reality. We are living it.
  • It's amazing how life puts challenges in front of you and puts you in the right place when people need you. We were on our way to the architect, and there was an accident. I noticed this motorcyclist that was riding like he should make all the correct hand signals and keep his distance from the other vehicles. A vehicle was wanting to make a left hand turn onto the 51 and cut a few people off to try to make the turn. In doing that, he caused a lot of turmoil behind him. The cars had to brake suddenly, and the motorcyclist was 20 feet away from me, and I am watching this car veer to the left. What I thought was going to happen ended up happening. The motorcyclist lost control of his bike, and he began to flip over on his motorcycle.
  • I pulled over immediately and was the first to approach him, and he was a young kid. I looked at him, and he was in shock; I said to him you're alive and told him he did an excellent job of maneuvering his bike. He snapped out of it, and I kept talking to him. One of the first things he said to me was he was so happy he wore his helmet. He was torn up; his clothes were torn from head to toe. I could see the road rash; I could see his raw flesh. He was controlled, and we pulled his bike out of the street. Out of all of these cars, another gentleman and I got out to help this guy.
  • I began to think about him saying he was glad he wore his helmet; he was used to not wearing it. Sometimes we do things that help us in the future, wearing a helmet vs. not, wearing a seatbelt vs. not. He was able to survive that even with his bruises and scratches. His bike was wrecked, but I was so happy to be there, and it grounded me. It stirred a fire within me to bring a sense to him that the motorcycle meant nothing compared to his life.
  • We went to the architect, and Carla and I are still in this high emotion of being there for this guy. We looked at each other at the architect in disbelief that this was happening. Is this really coming into fruition?
Iron Sharpens Iron
  • After that, I got home and went to pick up the bicycle that I purchased a few months ago. I went to a company called Cyclelogic, and they are world-renowned. I spent a lot of time with the owner, and he is also well known. What I am about to say resonated with my soul. When I went there, the agents that I am training with have also been there. This guy has seen thousands of individuals, many athletes, a lot of money going through his shop. As he measured me, he stopped and said that he had never met such a good group of individuals like the people who have come in from A.Z. & Associates.
  • He couldn't believe that we were salesmen, that we were all so humble, and the drive that we have; he was in awe of each of the men's quality and character. He said everyone that came through had a certain energy, and it felt good to hear, and he described these men I know to a tee. Individuals who are focused on getting better every single day, in every aspect of their lives. They are making an impact, and their ability to rise is influencing those around them. They are better husbands and fathers each time they rise and speak; people are watching them, and it made me feel good that we are leading the charge. It's not merely about the money I am making or the house I live in and the cars I drive, but many levels deeper.
  • A purpose, a drive, that people around them are watching and thinking to themselves if he can do it, maybe I can too. That is what it took for me to change my life. I saw someone doing it at a high level, and I imagined myself there; happy in my marriage, purpose-driven, loving my wife, a great Dad, not just the person that pays the bills. It hit me to the core because I know that each of these men has done the work and gone through pain and darkness levels.
  • They have brought to the surface the things we were ignoring and battled them. Deciding things would change moving forward, making promises, and delivering on them. They went day in and day out, not knowing if things would change right away, and in many situations, they didn't; many instances they are continuing to battle today, but they aren't walking blindly, they have a game plan. They know what they want and understand that it is a matter of time when you do the right things; the results will appear.
  • It's a conditioning process that doesn't bring immediate results. Each of these men and each of you has questioned yourself along the way. Many people have questioned you because you are different; you aren't the same person you once were. You may be in a situation where you face greater challenges, but it is all part of the process.
  • When you decide to go all-in on yourself and live an intentional life, the burdens of your inactions from the past rear their ugly heads. All of the things we ignored and disregarded will feel more difficult than they did before. It will feel like your marriage will worsen before it gets better, but you are doing the right things. You forgot to consider that all of those things you ignored and disregarded don't go away. You will have to face them and stop pretending it isn't there; Carla and I both did that for years. We pretended our issues weren't there, hoping things would get better but found ourselves miserable.
No Fun in the Monotony
  • You can pretend all day long that there are no issues with your business, that you are doing everything right when you know you haven't done enough. When trying to put deposits into every aspect of our lives, it is a laborious process. There were so many times in the past seven years that I wanted to give up. I didn't see the results; things were getting harder, I was making less money; how could this be the right way? I wasn't sitting back and appreciating all of the things that we're changing. The trust I was building and the confidence that came along with it. This real estate game is not hard at all; it's about your willingness to make the deposits in all areas of your life that make it manageable and lucrative.
  • If you are only focusing on one or two things in your life, it will only be a matter of time before it comes crumbling down. I have seen it first hand. If you are all-in on your business but not making deposits into yourself, creating space for yourself, being intentional with your parenting, and having the same focus in your marriage, it will be only a matter of time before it folds like a house of cards.
  • I did that and have witnessed it many times. This game is a slow-moving process, but you will sit someday at the architect table and be in shock. It will be reinforced later on by someone who didn't have to tell me anything; all he had to do was sell me a bike. I am living a life on fire, and it feels good to feel so good. It doesn't happen overnight. I left the bike shop knowing that this is something that works, people are taking notice, this is where impact derives from.
  • I loaded my bike in my car, and I am driving and am overwhelmed by all of this emotion and the people in my life and the life I am living. I look at the sky, and it is a perfect sunset, it was beautiful; the clouds, the colors, and the combination with the sun piercing through. I was overwhelmed, and I couldn't hold back. It continues to invigorate me because I know there is a practical way of living. It's a difficult process; this level of fulfillment doesn't happen overnight. I am here to tell you to keep going; it is on your path and part of your story.
  • Some of you are living it, and some of you are not, not yet. Because things are not where you think they should be, it doesn't mean it won't turn for you, but you have to be intentional about the process. You have to be focused on what you want. We spoke last week about comparison, and none of that matters if you don't feel good inside.
  • For those of you joining me Wednesday, I will go through the process of the 12-week targets with you. I hope this time it resonates, this time you follow it through to see the significant impact it will have on your life. The 12-week Target book is a simple, slow, methodical process that isn't exciting. I wish I could add that to it, but the excitement comes from the results, the reflection, and when you wake up excited and not depressed and full of anxiety. When you trust yourself knowing that whatever comes your way, you will overcome; that's where it stems from. The process sucks, it's a hard life, and you will feel like you are missing out. What you thought was fun is no comparison to what you will have created. This is the life we all need to consider for ourselves. We have to face the tough things to appreciate what life is all about.
  • I need you to take this time instead of being worried about the deal not being accepted, where the next deal is coming from, the issues on the BINSR, and appraisal. Not concerned about your finances, and take a step back and realize that you are on the right path. Maybe you are only halfway in with this process and doing only a fraction of it. Perhaps you just started working out, started marketing; you are on the right path, and you have to give it some time to allow those deposits to buy you the life you have been wanting.
In Closing
  • You don't just stumble into the good life; you have to buy into it through the daily deposits. Take a moment on one section of the 12-week Target book, something you have to do daily; it asks what you are grateful for. I will read the directions I gave here.”As you deal with the pressures and the stresses of building a business, it is necessary to remind yourself of what you are grateful for. The fruits of your labor are all around you, and at times you may be too focused on what you don't have. You can't let the burdens and pressures of your every day dictate what your tomorrow will bring. Your journey has been long, but your future is on track to bring you what you want. You need to stay the course for it to happen. When you are grateful for the journey you have been through, the financial hardships, the pressures you face in business, you will realize how far you have come. You need not forget the goals and ambitions, not forget the power and not forget the power you possess and the journey you have taken. Be grateful for who you are, the people in your life, and the experience you have been through. Look around. It is an epic tale.”
  • Look around. Your life is an epic tale. That reminder has to come from you because no one outside of you will tell you those things. You have to appreciate the journey you have been on. Looking at Carla and making decisions with the architect, I can remember the 900 square foot office and how big the burden was when we opened A.Z. & Associates back in 2011. We had to buy our front desk off of Craigslist because that was all we could afford. Trying to make moves and navigate through the financial mess that we created. Of course, I appreciate what I have done and lived my life on fire.
  • Whatever mindset you are in, think back, look back, because it is an epic tale. These are reminders we have to give ourselves daily. One day it won't be there to appreciate, and it will be long gone. Sitting in regret, hoping, and wishing we had done things differently. There are many things I regret, but moving forward, the script has changed.
  • Some of you are facing health issues, and for those who have been dealing with COVID, and have isolated yourselves, we are thinking about you. I talked to my Mom this morning, and she is very emotional. She has been sick for the past three days; she is 62, has pre-existing conditions, and it will be a tough road for her. Our conversation was the same conversation I have when I have to face big challenges. We have been here before, and we have won. You're batting a thousand Mom, and I am here for you, and you are strong.
  • If this simply put a pause on your days and your thoughts going wild, I did my job. I need you to take a step back, a moment in time, to appreciate this great life regardless of the challenges you face right now. It's a good life, and people are noticing the work you are putting in.
  • The night is darkest before dawn, and I can't tell you how many times I experienced the darkness where I felt it would be dark for the rest of my life. You can get into the mindset at times that this is all life comes to. Being able to push through, and there is a simple process, the hard part is doing it daily. I have seen lives transformed before my very eyes; mine, Carla’s, and our Top Producers. If you can't find the motivation to do it for yourself, then do it for your family and those around you. It does not only impact you directly; it impacts everyone.
  • Someday has to start somewhere. Someday you want this business, this type of marriage, a sense of purpose; it starts with doing the groundwork. The grunt work is exactly what it is. Every day you will question if you need to do this. When my alarm goes off at 4:30, I am not excited about it; I question and struggle with it. I get up, and I do it, and now I can give you the best of me because I went out and challenged myself.
  • This mundane process, the stuff that sucks; people around you will see the difference in you. You will be operating in ways you never did before and become more vocal. Life will get good, but it is about the levels of greatness that you create that is amazing. If you would have told me when I started this process back in 2014 with my coach Garrett White, a complete trust in the process, there were no real results because he was going through it as much as I was. We didn't know if it would work or if making the deposits would create something great. Now I know it works, and it is a fact; it is no longer a methodology but facts. Follow the facts.
  • My Mom is a strong woman, but I sense fear from her. All I can do is remind her of the journey she has taken on. She has suffered through many things along the way and come out strong. The odds are that she might have COVID, but whether she does or not, she will be fine. I appreciate you all, and I will talk to you soon.
